Africa’s tallest and most technologically advanced scissor lift the Holland HL 275-D27 was launched in Cape Town.
Manufactured in Amsterdam and designed by a 72-year-old jazz musician with a passion for mechanical design, the Holland HL 275-D27 Scissor Lift has a full working capacity of 27.5 metres and boasts a deck bigger than any comparable machine. It was brought to South Africa by Goscor Access Rental, a company which focuses on the rental of mobile elevated work platforms.
The biggest machine available in South Africa at the moment has a 5.55 metre by 2.5 metre deck measuring 7.55 metres by 2.50 metres when extended fully. “(The Holland HL 275-D27) is capable of lifting a ton up to its full working weight of 27.5 metres,” said Nici Verster, general manager of Goscor Access Rental.
Goscor High Reach CEO George Landsberg explained that much higher new buildings have created the need for higher lifts. He added that the Holland lift has an “extremely stable” scissor stack.
Verster said that with major projects such as Eskom’s Kusile and Medupi power stations under way, the local market will definitely benefit from the application of the “Rolls-Royce” of scissor lifts.
“In addition, we are introducing the new machine to cater for the latest trends in the warehousing and distribution sector for larger facilities, which are requiring ever-bigger access equipment in order to maximize productivity and efficiency,” said Verster.
